VIRTUS® Catholic Safe Environment Curriculum

The Diocese of San Jose is proud to present the VIRTUS® Catholic Safe Environment Program as the annual curriculum for our students, both in our private schools and faith formation programs from Kindergarten through 12th grade.  All training sessions must be documented and reported to the Office for the Protection of Children & Vulnerable Adults (OPCVA).

The following lesson plans include:
+ Reflection from the Catechism of the Catholic Church
+ Goals, including expected learning outcomes
+ Tips for creating a successful learning experience
+ Key vocabulary & definitions that apply to the lesson
+ Suggested activities, with instructions
+ Closing prayer that reflects the key message of the lesson

These lessons focus on an age-appropriate discussion of touching safety, relative to the specific roles that different people play in a child’s life. All of the lessons stress the importance of keeping private body parts “private.” All of the components of the lesson plan that precede the activities are designed to help give you, as the presenter, the perspective you’ll need to help your students have a more meaningful learning experience.
