Each Triduum, Bishop Patrick J. McGrath offers a special intercession to be used during the Good Friday liturgy. This year, he asks that all parishes in the Diocese of San Jose include the following intercession in the Solemn Intercessions for the Celebration of the Passion of the Lord on Good Friday, April 18, 2014. This intercession has been formatted to match the pattern (either sung or spoken) of the intercessions that are found in the Roman Missal. Please translate this prayer as needed for Good Friday celebrations in other languages.
XI. For Special Needs
Let us pray, dear brothers and sisters,
for the victims of human trafficking,
that the Lord may watch over and protect them.
[Prayer in silence. Then the Priest says:]
Almighty and ever-living God,
in whom all live and move and have their being,
graciously grant, we pray, that the weak and powerless
who are victims of this modern form of slavery
will soon share the freedom of your children
and return to their loved ones.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
