DEPARTMENT OF CATHOLIC SCHOOLS
Office of the Superintendent

June 10, 2020

Dear Catholic School Families,

As we bring our current year to a close, I want to express my deepest appreciation for your support and partnership. Together with our educators and staff, you have embraced the mission of Catholic education and ensured the continuation of learning and faith development for our children. Throughout the Diocese, our schools, families, and students have been a beautiful witness to resilience, love, and grace.

As we look to the new school year, we remain committed to creating safe and nurturing communities for all students, strengthening their relationship with Christ, and supporting their academic growth. Although we do not yet know what the public health conditions will be in August, our goal is to return to in-person instruction as soon as it is feasible, in alignment with our local and state health department requirements.

To this end, a committee of diocesan and school leaders is in the process of developing guidelines for reopening campuses. As we work through this strategic process, there are numerous variables to analyze at each school site. The summer will allow us time to finalize these plans and put the necessary measures in place for each school community, including a variety of health and safety precautions.

As we continue this work, your voice is critical to the process. I invite all families to complete this survey to share your experiences with distance learning as well as your priorities and concerns for the fall. These insights will help to inform our planning.

I will keep you informed as our guidelines are finalized, and, as we get closer to August, each school principal will follow up with the specific protocols and supports for your school community.

May Christ continue to companion and protect you and your family.

Yours in Christ,
Jennifer Beltramo
