On the Feast of Saint Juan Diego, the Diocese of San José will join dioceses across California in a unified Day of Prayer for and with our brothers and sisters who are immigrants, refugees, and asylum-seekers. All are invited to a special Holy Hour of prayer for Immigrants on Tuesday, December 9, the Feast of St. Juan Diego, at 7:00 PM at Holy Cross Church (580 Jackson St., San José).
In this busy season of Advent, we pause as a diocesan family to pray for those who live with uncertainty, separation, and hardship due to their immigration status, the color of their skin, or their national background. Guided by the witness of Saint Juan Diego—an Indigenous saint whose humility, courage, and steadfast faith opened the way for God’s tender message of hope—we gather to seek the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe and to pray for justice, compassion, and protection for all human brothers and sisters who migrate, seek refuge or asylum in our beloved country.
Please join us in this time of prayer to the Eucharistic Lord Jesus as we lift up those who long for safety, dignity, and peace. All are welcome to pray with us.

In response to U.S. Bishop’s Special Message on Immigration, join in a Holy Hour for Immigrants with Bishop Cantú on Tuesday Dec. 9 at Holy Cross Parish.
———————————
U.S. Bishops Issue a “Special Message” on Immigration. As the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) gathered for their Fall Plenary Assembly in Baltimore, the bishops issued a Special Message addressing their concern for the evolving situation impacting immigrants in the United States. It marked the first time in twelve years the USCCB invoked this particularly urgent way of speaking as a body of bishops. The last one issued in 2013 was in response to the federal government’s contraceptive mandate. To read the statement, please follow this link. The message is available in English and Spanish.

Please join with Bishop Cantu on January 24, 2026, at St. Lucy’s parish for the 8:00 am Diocesan Mass – before the 22nd Annual Walk for Life West Coast – as we walk for HOPE, walk for LOVE, and walk for LIFE!
- For 22 years we have been Walking, singing, and praying for unborn children.
- For 22 years we have been sharing our message that abortion hurts women.
- For 22 years we have been sharing hope, love, and forgiveness.
And our efforts have borne fruit! How many lives have been saved by the heart-wrenching testimony of our post-abortive women? How many hearts have been changed by YOUR peaceful witness to love, life, and hope? How many vocations to marriage, the priesthood, and religious life?
Every pregnancy should be an occasion for hope but, sadly, can also be an occasion for fear.
Pregnant women need hope! Young families need hope! Our city, our nation, and our culture need hope!
