Jesus, when he gave his Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:7), said: “Happy are those who are merciful to others; God will be merciful to them.” Thus the Jubilee Year of Mercy starting on Dec. 8 will be a celebration of God’s mercy towards us but it will also be a celebration of forgiving those who have hurt us and seeking forgiveness from those whom we have hurt.
