Worship
The Catholic Church’s liturgy, especially the Eucharist (Mass), is the source of our Christian life and the goal to which all our activities lead us. The liturgy touches every aspect of the parish—its catechetical work, its sense of community, its service to the poor, and its personal prayer life. Good celebrations strengthen our faith. Poor celebrations may weaken it.
You’ll find resources here that will help you learn about the liturgy, participate in it more actively, prepare good liturgy well, and show you how liturgy celebrated fully not only praises God and blesses God’s people, but also catechizes, evangelizes, and changes the world.
Plan ahead for the 2012 FDLC Gathering
Next October, 2012, the Diocese of San Jose will host the annual National Meeting of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions. Each year, the diocesan directors of worship, members of their diocesan liturgical commissions, the chair of the United States Bishops' Committee on Divine Worship, and the Secretariat for Divine Worship gather to discuss relevant issues in liturgy in the United States. Our diocese will host the next gathering, which will continue studying the topic from the 2011 gathering in Portland, Oregon—intercultural worship in a multicultural Church.
Watch the promotional video below that was shown to the 2011 delegates in Portland, and share it with your own liturgy teams.
