ABOUT OUR NEWLY ORDAINED PRIESTS:


REV. EDGAR MALDIA ELAMPARO, I

is the son of Edgar Elamparo and Josefin Elamparo, and has one older brother, two younger brothers (one deceased), and three younger sisters. He was born on September 27, 1969 in Manila. His family is a native of Candelaria, Zambales. He has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics major in Computer Science from the Royal Pontifical University of Santo Tomas in Manila.

Father Edgar’s home parish is Saint Maria Goretti. He served as a Youth Minister, and was an officer of the SMG Fil-Am Community. He attended St. Patrick’s Seminary & University for his first six years of formation and finished his Theologate at Mundelein Seminary/ University of Saint Mary of the Lake. He served his Pastoral Year at Sacred Heart Saratoga under the supervision of Fr. Gary Thomas. He said, “I received countless blessings throughout my formation years and my words are not enough to express my warm heartfelt gratitude to all who prayed and supported me. Moreover, my hope is to make God’s unconditional love and mercy be known to many, and for them to have deeper personal relationship with God.”

Bishop McGrath has assigned Fr. Edgar to begin his priestly ministry at Holy Spirit Parish in San Jose.


REV. NEIL FRANCIS ADAN KALAW

was born in Naga City, Philippines on September 9, 1987 to the late Nelson Kalaw and Maria Victoria Kalaw. He has one elder brother and one younger sister, both of whom are nurses. They all attended St. Joseph School, a Chinese Catholic School, for 14 years (Pre-K to High School). During his final two years in high school, he felt called to the Catholic priesthood. Shortly after graduating, he entered San Carlos Seminary in Makati City studying for the Archdiocese of Manila. After finishing his Bachelor’s in Philosophy, he went on to work as a high school teacher for Lourdes Catholic School in Manila for three years. While teaching, he also attended De La Salle University-Manila working toward a Masters in Human Developmental Psychology. Following that year, in 2013, he joined the Diocese of San Jose and attended St. Patrick’s Seminary & University as a first year theology seminarian. His home parish is Ascension Church in Saratoga.

Father Francis spent his Pastoral Year at St. Nicholas & St. William Parishes in Los Altos where he experienced great joy in serving the people under the supervision of his pastor, Fr. John Poncini. Francis says, “The Ignatian calling to be a ‘man for others’ summarizes my desire to approach priesthood. As Jesus said, ‘There is no greater love than to offer one’s life to others’ (John 15:13).”

Bishop McGrath has assigned Fr. Francis to begin his priestly ministry at St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish in Morgan Hill.


REV. WILBERTO ENRICO REYES PICZON

is the son of Wilfredo Piczon and Enriqueta Piczon. He has one younger sister, Eloisa Javier. Father Eric was born June 6, 1978 in Manila, Philippines. After graduating from college, he moved to the United States with some members of his family in 2000. He worked in the retail business for eleven years before entering the seminary in August, 2011. He attended St. Patrick’s Seminary & University for his first six years of formation and finished his Theologate at Mundelein Seminary/ University of Saint Mary of the Lake.

Father Eric’s home parish is at Our Lady of Peace in Santa Clara. He served at St. Lucy Parish under Fr. Mark Arnzen. Eric thanks his family, his relatives and friends who helped him discern and respond to his vocation. He also thanks the priests, staff and parishioners of St. Elizabeth’s, St. Lucy’s, and Our Lady of Peace Shrine for helping him to prepare himself for the priesthood through their friendship, guidance and prayers.

Bishop McGrath has assigned Fr. Eric to begin his priestly ministry at St. Leo Parish in San Jose.
