MEN’S RETREATS:

Priests of the Diocese of San Jose make a radical choice to follow Jesus’ call to be His servant-leaders. Their lives of joyful sacrifice bring to the people of Silicon Valley the message of Jesus Christ that: I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live! (John 11:25). A priest is empowered by Christ to overcome death, sin, and despair with the message of life, forgiveness, and hope that is the core of the Gospel.

Priests find meaning and profound personal fulfillment in bringing the living presence of Jesus to God’s people through the sacraments. In turn, people experience the power of Jesus through their priest’s ministry. As “father” of his parish family, the priest is called to be a visible witness of holiness in his commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He offers his life for his people through prayer and ministry.

A vocation – marriage, priesthood, religious life, etc. – is a call to love and every baptized person has one! But perhaps you’re feeling a tug to give your heart to Jesus exclusively, sitting at His feet like Mary Magdalene, or perhaps you’ve wondered what life is like as a cloistered nun? If you’re a single, Catholic woman between the ages of 18-38 years, we invite you to spend a day of discernment with the Cloistered Dominican Nuns of Corpus Christi Monastery in Menlo Park, CA. Spiritual Tools When Discerning Marriage or Consecrated Life for Young Adult Women

Poor Clare Monastery, Los Altos Hills

PRAYER, DISCERNMENT, AND VOCATIONS

How does God “call” me to my vocation? How can I pray in a way that helps me understand His plan for me? Why would God desire a particular vocation for me? What does it mean to have a vocation to marriage? To consecrated life?

What does it mean to discern a vocation to marriage before and while dating? If I’m called to be a nun or sister, would I be happy? How can I learn more about a vocation to the religious life?

We know you have these questions, and we want to help you find some answers! The Diocese of San Jose Vocations Office invites young adult women to a retreat day on vocations, discernment, and contemplative prayer. Bring your Bibles, journals, and questions on vocations!

Repeat attendees welcome!

PRAY FOR VOCATIONS

Would you join us in in praying for young men and women discerning their vocation?  Let’s pray for peace, clarity, confidence, trust and faith for these young people.  Let’s ask “the Master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest” (Matt 9:38).  Our Lord did promise us that if we all agreed on a prayer, it would be granted (Matt 18:19).

If you would like to add your name to a list of those who will commit to praying for and with these young men and women, please add your name to j.mp/dsjvpray
