Bishop Oscar Cantú announces the new Senior Director of Evangelization for the Diocese of San José effective April 1, 2023: Veronica Duluk, who has been serving as the part-time ministry lead for the Eucharistic Revival since the beginning of the year.
Veronica succeeds the outgoing Vicar of Evangelization, Father Gerardo Menchaca, who expressed a desire to return as the full-time pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. Since the Fall of 2022, the Department of Evangelization has been working with a consultant to do strategic assessment and planning in preparation to support the new pastoral plan.
“The role of the Department of Evangelization is to support my office and accompany our parishes, schools, and Catholic movements and institutes by providing resources, consultation, training, and leadership development. This is essential in supporting the work our parishes, schools, and ministries do in evangelizing our community,” said Bishop Cantú. “Veronica’s professional and ministerial experiences are the right mix for helping the department and its directors strategically determine how best to support leaders across our diocese in the implementation of a new pastoral plan.”
With over two decades of experience in strategic planning, process redesign, and change management, Veronica has a proven track record of driving strategy into action plans to achieve organizational goals. She has successfully led through engagement, facilitated groups to make decisions, and enabled collaboration at all levels of an organization.
Veronica’s previous role was as the Chief Administrative Officer for The Private Bank at Wells Fargo Bank, where she coordinated and managed ongoing support for over 100 regional offices to promote consistent client service and risk management practices. Her responsibilities included leading division-wide initiatives for organizational restructure and service improvement. During her 20-year career at Wells Fargo, Veronica was recognized for her leadership and superior results on complex project initiatives across multiple departments. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in International Relations-Economics from Stanford University and completed the Executive Program on Strategy and Organization from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
Growing up in a missionary family with her father working to spread the Gospel in Guatemala, Veronica learned the importance of living and sharing one’s faith. She has served as President of the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County and on various board committees for over 10 years. Veronica is a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Palo Alto, where she has served on the parish stewardship council, finance committee, and liturgy committee. She is currently a Lector and an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.
Veronica and her husband Jay, who is in our diocese’s permanent diaconate program, have two children and two grandchildren. Veronica is fluent in Spanish and enjoys reading to her grandchildren in both languages. She enjoys modernist cooking, vegetable gardening, and all types of puzzles.
In Mrs. Duluk’s own words, “I am excited for the opportunity to use all of the gifts God has given me to support parishes and schools to evangelize the faithful of all ages and situations across the diocese. This is the culmination of how I live my life as a missionary disciple.”
