St. Christopher School is seeking part-time, student supervision aides for the 2023-2024 school year. St. Christopher School is located in the Willow Glen neighborhood of San José serving 475 students in grades K-8.

Established in 1955, St. Christopher School is a Catholic educational community within St. Christopher Parish. St. Christopher School is dedicated to educating children to become faith-filled leaders who serve God, consider their actions, and step up. Centered on the message of Jesus Christ, the school promotes the growth of students’ faith life, community responsibilities, and individual talents.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Principal, the Student Supervision Aide provides
supervision of students in the cafeteria, on the playground, or on school buses; and to do related work as required.
S/he also provides supervision to children during drop off, pick up, morning recess, and/or lunch period(s).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING (and other duties as assigned):
● Supervise children grades TK/K – 8 in the cafeteria and/or on the playground, as assigned.
● Accept responsibility for the safety and well-being of each child under their supervision.
● Maintain discipline and order in accordance with school operations, rules, procedures and by exhibiting
judgment and tact with minimal supervision.
● Ensure that students do not leave school grounds without permission.
● Make sure no unauthorized persons are on school grounds.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:
● Act as a role model of professionalism in a Catholic environment.
● Support the philosophy, policies, and goals of the school, as well as the decisions made by the
Principal and Administrators.
● Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all students.
● Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the parent/student handbook and employee
handbook.
● Work as part of a team.
● Attend faculty, administrative, and all other meetings as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM THE JOB SUCCESSFULLY:

Education and/or Experience:
● High school diploma or GED.
● Prior experience supervising children.
● Sufficient training to perform tasks assigned by the Principal.

Language Skills:
● Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate with all
stakeholders of the school.
● English, required.
● Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese) preferred.

Technical Skills:
● Proficient at word processing, presentation, and electronic mail applications.
● Experience with school information systems (SIS).
● Working knowledge of Workday, or willingness to learn.
● Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google applications.

Physical Demands:
● Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, lifting, repetitive motion, bending, stooping, crouching, climbing,
stretching, twisting.
● Can lift 25 lbs. in compliance with safety standards.
● Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
● Handles exposure to climate change and temperature.
● Can operate standard office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, personal computer, telephone, and
alarm system.
● Level of vision, hearing, speaking required.
● Standing for extended periods of time.

Other Requirements:
● Able to work evenings and weekends, if required.
● Must have an understanding and acceptance for the mission of the Catholic Church.
● Must support the teachings and values of the Catholic Church and its mission.
