POSITION SUMMARY:
Under supervision, assures that the church and other parish buildings are maintained in a clean and orderly manner. Duties include facility set-up, the capability to perform minor preventative maintenance tasks on equipment and machinery such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, and the like. Assists in the movement and relocation of furniture, equipment, and machinery as required. Requires skills in carpentry, plumbing, painting, and some electrical. May also do minor gardening tasks that assist in keeping the grounds safe and orderly, assisting contractors, vendors, and the Fire Department.
This position will be 16 -19 hours
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
- Responsible for opening/closing the church, bathrooms, and setting alarms.
- Bathroom Upkeep – including minor plumbing repairs such as replacing toilets, faucets, dispensers, and fixtures.
- General maintenance of electrical, plumbing and yard.
- Arrange furniture and equipment for special events.
- Perform minor facility repair and upkeep of grounds.
- Proficient in use of basic hand tools.
- Be comfortable in use of ladders, pressure washer and waxing machine.
- Accompany and advise contractors as needed during contractor site visits.
- Monthly inspection of Fire Extinguishers.
- Assemble furniture.
- Touch-up paint for walls, doors, etc.
- Maintains tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition.
- Perform quarterly safety inspections.
- Capable of lifting 50 pounds.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Notify Office Manager when short on supplies.
QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM THE JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
The Maintenance Worker should be able to work independently; anticipating needs and handling requests from the many users of the facility but is required to work in a team in order to maintain a safe and efficient work environment. This position requires a person who is willing and able to perform routine maintenance and janitorial tasks with the knowledge of routine mechanical, electrical, and plumbing skills. Must be able to work well with staff and parishioners.
Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, lifting (50 lbs), repetitive motion, bending, stooping, climbing ladders, stretching, twisting, and crouching.
Other Requirements: Must be available on-call for emergencies, evenings and weekends, when needed.
Pay Range: $17.00 – 24.26/hr Based on education and experience
