The Extended Care Aide at St. Mary School, Los Gatos will assist with the implementation of a quality program that enriches the students spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. The Extended Care Aide will maintain a safe and educational learning environment for children in TK – 8th grade by successfully implementing the program activities. Daily expectations include: maintaining a safe, organized and clean environment, leading children in table activities, supervising snack and outdoor play, overseeing homework and assisting children with day to day needs.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • After school aide positions open, part time 12-17 hours per week,
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 3:00pm-6:00pm
  • Wednesday 12:30-6:00pm

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING (other duties may be assigned):

  • Promote a safe and healthy environment based on safety standards set within the program.
  • Work with program personnel to plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate educational enrichment curriculum and programming that expands and supports student learning experiences beyond the classroom.
  • Implement program procedures effectively to ensure the well-being of all participants. Efficiently redirect inappropriate student behaviors and implement the program discipline system to effectively monitor and guide proper student behavior.
  • Oversee homework
  • Observe, monitor, and participate in children’s play activities
  • Help prepare snacks for the children
  • Maintain accurate and organized records such as attendance records, snack records, timesheets, incident reports, and all other paperwork as instructed to ensure program compliance and quality operations, as overseen by a supervisor.
  • Assist in the cleaning and straightening of the room and equipment before, during, and after the program each day. Set up for TK program.
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. Continue professional development by attending staff meetings and trainings as directed.

Education and experience:  High school diploma; experience implementing educational programming and working with students as a teacher, educational aide, after school care aide, and/or daycare operator or assistant is desired.

  • Ability to interact and collaborate with both volunteers, staff and parents

Upon being hired:

  • Must be fingerprinted
  • Must have current TB Test.
  • Complete a VIRTUS Safe Environment online training and receive certificate through the San Jose Diocese
