Cristo Rey San José Jesuit High School is hiring for a full-time Chief Finance & Operations Officer (CFOO).
MISSION STATEMENT:
Cristo Rey is a Jesuit, Catholic high school that empowers students from underserved communities in San José to be men and women for others who are prepared spiritually, academically, and professionally to
complete college and who will become accomplished leaders committed to a lifelong pursuit of learning, faith, and justice. All CRSJ students participate in a Corporate Work Study Program, through which they
work one day a week at a Partner corporation, government agency, or non-profit, thereby gaining professional skills and contributing to the sustainability of the organization.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The CFOO is directly responsible for developing and executing the internal operational strategies necessary to achieve the goals and objectives of Cristo Rey San José Jesuit High School. The CFOO will report directly to the President & CEO and will work in collaboration and in partnership with CRSJ Board Members and members of the Leadership Council. The CFOO, along with the President, Principal, and the Executive Director of the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP), are the executives responsible for the successful programming of both the School and the CWSP. The Chief Finance & Operations Officer role will oversee finance, facilities/safety, technology, and HR. The CFOO role will be as much strategic, operational, and managerial as it is financial. The role also involves some external relations as we work with VTA and others to assess the implications for our facilities of a BART station coming in across the street and plan for the coming changes. The next CFOO will be inheriting a highly experienced Staff Accountant and a part-time staff member in charge of tuition collection. Assessing the processes and controls in the office will be an important starting point for the CFOO. In addition, there is a Director of HR, who will report to the CFOO.
On the operations side, the CFOO will work to establish and maintain operational systems stability. The CFOO will work to ensure policies, procedures, and systems are clear, documented, and transferrable with
a focus on long-term sustainability and employee engagement. There is a Facilities Manager with a lot of school experience with whom to partner. Across the finance, HR, and facilities/operations functions, the CFOO will inherit 8 staff members (in full-time or part-time roles). In addition, the CFOO will manage our technology contractor. Depending on the strengths that the CFOO candidate brings to the role, he/she will have the opportunity to hire at least one additional staff member for the team. This is a new role at CRSJ, bringing together the Facilities/Operations team with the HR and Finance team for the first time. This presents an opportunity for a dynamic leader to foster cross-functional relationships and be a key driver of community building across campus. The Chief Finance & Operations Officer will require strong skills including, communication, people management, project management, financial acumen, presentation skills, and perhaps most importantly, strategic thinking and execution. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor’s degree required; MBA/CPA preferred
● 10-15 years of senior-level experience creating and executing financial planning and management
strategies
● Experience in nonprofit accounting required (e.g. revenue recognition, 990 reporting)
● Working knowledge of GAAP, audits, and other regulatory requirements in the financial field
● Strong computer skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks
● The ideal candidate has experience of final responsibility for the quality and content of all
financial data, reporting and audit coordination
● Proven track record designing, implementing, and managing large-scale organizational change
● Experience in an independent school preferred though individuals with strong financial and
leadership skills are welcome
● Experience on senior administrative teams and working with nonprofit Boards
● Demonstrated experience in successfully managing a team with a variety of roles and skills, and
supporting the growth of team members
● Demonstrated experience in the development of analysis for strategic decision-making, such as
key cost drivers, competitive analysis, market analysis, organizational strengths and weaknesses,
etc.
● Experience in human resource management, employee benefits (including pension plans), and
payroll procedures preferred.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES – ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
● Provides day-to-day operational leadership and support to staff that mirrors the missions and core
values of CRSJ with the highest level of personal and professional integrity.
● Works collaboratively to develop and/or improve systems, processes, controls and procedures that
improve the overall efficiency of CRSJ school wide. Seeks opportunities to reduce costs while
also improving operational support and resources for staff.
● Manage and oversee the day-to-day Finance and Accounting functions including oversight of
accounts payable, accounts receivable, and maintenance of a general ledger for a $10M budget.
● Lead the annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the President; administer
and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and produce monthly
budget versus actual reports
● Effectively communicate and present quarterly financial and operational
updates to the Board of Directors.
● Remain up-to-date on best practices in nonprofit finance, business systems and internal control
measures, and state and federal law regarding nonprofit operations.
● Manage the overall strategy, purpose, and vision of the entire Human Resources function:
benefits, payroll, 403(b), recruitment, learning and development, risk insurance, culture,
performance management, and succession planning.
● Manage the overall strategy, purpose, and vision for CRSJ’s infrastructure which includes IT,
Facilities, and Operations.
● Supervise the on-campus tech support and manage our relationship and contract with our IT
provider.
● Responsible for maintaining CRSJ’s overarching response to the COVID-19 pandemic,
developing plans and protocols that balance staff and student health and safety and access to
academics. This work is done in partnership with the Santa Clara County Health Department and
stakeholders within CRSJ.
● Lead and facilitate monthly All Staff meetings and manage agenda.
● Demonstrate a willingness to take on new tasks with a general attitude that no task is too small,
impossible, or cannot be improved.
● Participate in school functions including Professional Development and mandatory school events
● Supervise Director of Human Resources, Operations Manager, Staff Accountant, and part-time
Accounting Clerk
● Develop and present recommendations for the modernization of internal systems and updated best
practices.

SALARY AND COMPENSATION:
● Range between $180,000 – $200,000. Full time employees are eligible for the following benefits:
medical, dental, vision, and retirement. Employees’ premiums are covered for medical, dental
and vision at 100% and dependents at 50% if elected. This position is eligible for enrollment in
the group voluntary retirement plan – 403b.
