Diocesan Pastoral Response for Immigrants facing Expedited Removal
By Diocese of San Jose on March 28, 2017
Dear Brother Priests, Deacons and Ministerial Colleagues,
Attached is the Diocesan Pastoral Response for our immigrant brothers and sisters who may be facing “expedited removal.” Many of you have called asking about what should and can we do to help people facing imminent deportation. This document will help you, your staff and parish leadership discern how you might become involved in dealing with the crisis at the parish level. Some parishes are already helping folks facing deportation but many others are looking for ways to become engaged through support, providing food, volunteers or simply educating their own people about the situation.
Please take the time to read through this document. A member of my immigration support network will be contacting you within the next few days to followup. Training and pastoral orientation dates will be given in the follow up process.
