St. Catherine School, located in Morgan Hill, CA, is accepting applications for a Garden Coordinator.  This is part-time position averaging 12 hours per week.  The hours flex with the needs of the garden and classes.

Specific Duties:

  • Manage our school garden with watering, planting, harvesting, etc.
  • Collaborate with teachers on garden activities for classes
  • Work with students in implementing activities in the garden
  • Manage garden equipment and resources

Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma
  • Experience developing and maintaining a large garden
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers and work with students

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Kindergarten Teacher’s Aide at St. Simon’s School is responsible for providing assistance to instructional programs by assisting the teacher in achieving educational objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole. The Kindergarten Teacher’s Aide assists the teacher in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Executes instructional activities with individual students or small groups of students following teacher direction and demonstration.
  • Provides assistance to students during special classes (art, music, etc.).
  • Assists students in special education and general education classes.
  • Assists in preparation of materials for class, classroom activities, assignments, location of supplementary materials from school library and other resources areas.
  • Implements behavior management programs designed by teachers and/or school psychologist. Counts and records specific student behaviors; administers procedures in the positive behavior support plan.
  • Monitors student use of instructional equipment. Provides general maintenance of equipment including cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Serves as a source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected in the classroom teachers.
  • Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills.
  • Assists with student use of equipment.
  • Monitors the incidence and prevalence of designated health problems or medical conditions. . Observes and intervenes to redirect inappropriate behavior.
  • Assists, monitors, and guides the student to pay attention, participate in activities, and complete tasks.
  • Works in station rotation and helps instruct a group of students for one of the teachers.
  • Grades papers for the teachers and oversees students who are working independently to make sure that they stay on their individually learning track.

Education and/or Experience: 

Education: High school diploma and minimum of two years’ experience implementing educational programming and working with students as a teacher and educational aide.

  • Self-motivated and reliable.
