Position Title: Development Director—part-time up to 30 hours/week, non-exempt

Summary/Purpose:  Lead and manage evolving school development program including: annual giving, sponsorships, grants and planned giving, recruitment and retention of students.  Coordinates the efforts to build, reconnect with and engage an alumni constituency.  Coordinates all community relations through physical representation and digital marketing efforts.  Support volunteers and the School’s Marketing Committee.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Work cooperatively with the administration, staff, members of the Markeying Committee, and other fundraising volunteers
  • Represent St. Nicolas School in the community and lead key community related events
  • Utilize and understand practices and principles of public relations
  • Produce informational pieces for local media, targeted neighborhoods and targeted audiences. Produce the school and alumni newsletter and annual report in coordination with others.
  • Oversees development work on newsletter, appeal letters, donor presentations, and website updates via innovative internet marketing strategies
  • Conduct all marketing efforts related to open houses
  • Works closely with Admissions Director and Office Manager
  • Creates and manages weekly social media campaigns on multiple platforms and supports the development of the school website.
  • Analyze key metrics on web traffic/and digital marketing campaigns
  • Lead and manage major fundraising events
  • Helps plan for, identify, solicit and steward the various sponsorships St. Nicholas School secures for a range of events and programs. Coordinates assistance with event/program chairs and committees, and others related to achieve a seamless, high quality sponsorship program.
  • Develops and manages the database with segmented codes for school constituent groups.
  • Coordinates the efforts to reconnect with alumni and families over several decades of School history.
  • Manage and promote corporate matching programs

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to manage assigned projects. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and to lead and motivate others, especially volunteers.  Experience in leading fundraising events. Demonstrated record of success in fundraising campaigns & major gift solicitation.  Demonstrated ability to maintain productive working relationships with various constituencies including donors, parents, alumni, businesses, foundations, volunteer boards, staff, etc.

Skills: Excellent MS Office skills, google docs and drive experience, experience with Donor Perfect and Wealth Engine preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in communications, finance and/or marketing or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a comparable field with three years’ experience in a comparable position. Experience in Development field required.  Demonstrated record of success in fundraising campaigns & major gift solicitation. Experience running direct mail and advertising campaigns for planned giving required. Social media experience preferred.
