Mission Statement

As a Catholic faith community, we value the dignity and rights of all persons and we endeavor to educate, influence public policy, and engage our community for the purpose of eradicating human trafficking in all its forms. We work in collaboration with other faith communities, law enforcement, and other established organizations in addressing the issue.

History

The Catholic Network to End Human Trafficking (CNEHT) of the Diocese of San Jose and The Diocese of Monterey was formed in 2012 at the request of Bishop McGrath.  As a network representing many communities and organizations, we are dedicated to the principles outlined in our mission statement.

As Bishop McGrath has stated, “Human Trafficking is a crime that affects approximately 27 million people globally.  As Catholics and people of faith, we are called to create awareness and to do what we can to end this abuse of human life.”

Diocese of San Jose Takes a Stand

To that end, we are actively engaged in providing education and awareness.  Our members provide educational materials and facilitate presentations on human trafficking in our parishes, schools, and to the larger community throughout our Diocese including the Faith Formation Conference, days of social justice, and other workshops. We also work with the Diocese Department of Education to provide age appropriate curricula, guidance and resources for schools. Contact us at cneht@dsj.org.

In addition, we partner with local organizations such as the South Bay Coalition to End Human Trafficking and No Traffick Ahead in an effort to create awareness and combat human trafficking.
