The Director of Liturgy assists the Pastor by bringing vision and leadership to the Worship life of St Nicholas & St William Parish.

This is a full-time exempt position which includes the following responsibilities:

1. Work with clergy to plan and prepare liturgies in accordance with the General Instructions of the Roman Missal, directives of the Bishop of San Jose, and good liturgy principles as defined by Vatican II. Write weekly general intercessions, Mass announcements, and publish ministry sign-in sheet. Serve as the liaison to the diocesan office of worship to ensure the parish is kept informed of current liturgical developments.

2. Contribute weekly to the parish bulletin with articles, updates, and information to promote, enrich, and inspire parishioner engagement in parish liturgy and parish life.

3. Direct and develop volunteers to serve on the Parish Liturgy Committee, to assist you with the coordination of daily, weekly, and seasonal liturgies and celebrations, including Holy Days, Advent/Christmas, and Lent/Easter. With the support of the Parish Liturgy Committee, recruit, train, schedule, and supervise parish volunteers to serve as liturgical ministers for all Masses, as well as Communion Services when needed. Ensure all liturgical volunteers receive and are compliant with the required safe environment training and fingerprinting.

4. Prepare and manage the parish liturgy budget and ensure smooth operations with the purchase and care of necessary liturgical items. Manage seasonal environment changes to reflect the appropriate liturgical season.

5. Serve as a resource and consultant for liturgical planning of funerals, weddings, baptisms, etc. Provide volunteer sacristans for weddings, funerals, and baptisms.

6. Attend appropriate conferences, workshops, and training to remain current and up to date on Catholic liturgy and spiritual life. Stay current on developments in liturgy and music.

7. Recruit and train lay volunteers to serve on the Pastoral Care Team as Eucharistic Ministers to the Sick in individual homes and at those health care and senior facilities served by the parish, to minister to the hospitalized and homebound.

8. Recruit lay volunteers to serve on the Bereavement Ministry Team, and ensure they are sufficiently trained.

9. Other duties as assigned by the Pastor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
● Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.
● Proactive and reliable with the ability to lead and collaborate with both staff and volunteers.
● Strong oral and written communication skills.
● Available to work Holy Days (i.e. Christmas and Easter), and some evenings and weekends.
● Computer skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Education and/or Experience:
● BS/BA Degree and/or experience in developing and implementing Liturgy at the parish level preferred. We also offer onsite training.
