SUMMARY:March for Literacy
DESCRIPTION:The Learning and Loving Education Center is a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of thePresentation. This woman-focused nonprofit organization provides education\, outreach and resources to low income immigrant women and their children. Programs teach skills that assist under served populations in overcoming the multiple barriers to education\, literacy\, employment and self- reliance. Each year\, the LLEC provides educational opportunities to over 170 women and their preschool aged children. It is through programs like ours that these women can gain the confidence they need to overcome the many barriers to self-reliance\, to increase their educational potential and to improve their lives.\nThe goal of this fundraising effort is to raise money throughout the month\, through pledges and recurring gifts\, to support the cost to educate\, at $2\,200 per student. \nDownload pdf

SUMMARY:Solemn High Mass in Extraordinary Form for Feast of the Annunciation
DESCRIPTION:Solemn High Mass for the Feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary \nThe Feast of the Annunciatin of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be celebrated by a Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form on Wednesday evening\, March 25 at 8:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church\, Waverley at Homer in Palo Alto. The St. Ann Choir will sing the Missa O Magnum Mysterium by Tomás Luis de Victoria and the Gregorian chants for the feast. The clergy will be arranged by Fr. Francisco Nahoe\, O.F.M.Conv. \nA Solemn High Mass includes priest\, deacon\, and subdeacon\, and various acolytes\, each of which plays a distinctive and purposeful role. The extraordinary form is the Mass of tradition\, sometimes called Tridentine\, and the solemn form is is the most ample manner of its celebration. It is particularly to be celebrated since Pope Benedict gave wide parmission to celebrate Mass in the traditional manner. \nThe Annunciation observes the coming of the Angel Gabriel to Mary to announce that she will bear a son\, who will be Jesus. It is from this announcement by the Angel that we have the initial line of the prayer\, Hail Mary. For centuries\, March 25 was considered New Year\, the beginning of the history of the work of Jesus Christ\, and so this day is both a day of the Blessed Virgin and of the Lord Jesus. \nMarch 25\, once considered the New Year\, honors both the Blessed Virgin and the Lord Jesus. The St. Ann Choir\, conducted by Professor William Mahrt\, will sing a Solemn High Mass in Gregorian chant Missa O Magnum Mysterium for the feast at a Solemn High Mass celebrated by Fr. Francisco Nahoe\, O.F.M.Conv. \nFr. Francisco Nahoe\, O.F.M Conv. officiates at this full choral solemn high Mass in the extraordinary form\, with gregorian chant propers and the Victoria MIssa O Magnum Mysterium\, sung by the Saint Ann choir\, Prof. William Mahrt conducting. \nDownload PDF
