SUMMARY:Life and Dignity: A Catholic Social Teaching Series
DESCRIPTION:The core of our Catholic Social Teaching is Human Dignity\, which teaches that life is sacred\, the most sacred gift from God.  Life has value regardless of circumstances.  It is the Church’s mission to keep life precious and protect it from all harm and sin that might endanger it. \nIn our current modern society\, the culture of life has been transformed into a culture of death.  Life is often not seen as a value in itself\, but the value of life decreases depending on the needs of others. \nIn this May session\, we continue to explore the core essence and history of Catholic Social Teaching in Human Dignity\, Solidarity\, and Subsidiarity\, we will look at the Poor. Our contemporary definition of “the poor” is quite different than the poor of Jesus’ day\, so how do we translate this effectively and efficaciously? We will follow in the footsteps of Pope Leo XIV’s Apostolic Exhortation\, Dilexi Te\, to all Christians on Love for the Poor\, to help give us context\, vocabulary\, and action. \nPlease join us for an evening of informed awareness of our Church’s teachings.  Register here.  \n\nMarch 20 – Life is Sacred\nMay 7 – The Poor\nSeptember 10 – Dignity of Work\nNovember 19 – God’s Creation\n\n
