SUMMARY:Golden Jubilee Mass
DESCRIPTION:The Church of the Resurrection is celebrating their Golden Jubilee Year\, with open hearts and minds to God’s presence in every one. The Golden Jubilee Mass is November 10th\, 11:30 a.m. Bishop McGrath will be celebrating the Mass\, as well current and past priests of the parish. Blessed thanksgiving\, prayers and hopeful energy are in the air! The parish remembers and thanks the founders while celebrating the Body of Christ that the faith community is today. \nThroughout its history and now\, under the guidance of Pope Francis\, the Resurrection community reaches out to those in need\, striving to be the eyes and hands of Christ. Parishioners care for others through the works of St. Vincent de Paul\, Catholic Charities\, missions\, youth group and faith sharing community service projects\, Eucharist to the homebound and to nursing facilities\, and their vigorous and generous Fil-Am community. The newest outreach\, the “Caregiver’s Circle\,” is a loving ministry that delivers meals\, runs errands\, and visits and prays with those in need to let them know that they are not alone! The priests of the parish lovingly touch the lives of others through prison\, school and hospital ministries\, sacraments\, and counseling. \nInspired and blossoming this year under the guidance\, faith and inspiration of Pope Francis\, the Church of the Resurrection celebrates the Grace of the Holy Spirit and the blessings that abound in their lives. Pope Francis calls everyone to live their lives in harmony with those around them\, deepen their relationship with God\, follow the footsteps of Jesus\, reaching out to the poor\, the sick and the marginalized in society. The Resurrection community feels the challenge then to take a new look at their faith\, lives and ministries as they follow the Pope into a time of renewed respect\, appreciation\, love and compassion for all God’s children. \nBuilding upon the work of the founders\, their sacrifices and prayers\, the Resurrection community continues the legacy and prayerfully walks forward\, together in Christ\, which is their path of hope into the future. \nPope Francis reminds everyone… What have I done for Christ? What am I doing for Christ? What should I do for Christ? \nHappy 50th Anniversary Church of the Resurrection!

SUMMARY:Day of the Dead (Dia de Los Muertos)
DESCRIPTION:Día de Los Muertos is one of Mexico’s traditional holidays reuniting and honoring beloved ancestors\, family\, and friends. It is an ancient ritual when the living commune with the dead – a mystical event when the veil is lifted between their two realms and they may share a day together. Día de Los Muertos is a time of celebration and a time to remember our deceased family and friends. Rather than to deny and fear death\, this event teaches us to accept and contemplate the meaning of mortality and to celebrate life.\nOn October 26\, 2013 Calvary Catholic Cemetery\, in association with Hispanic Chamber of Commerce – Silicon Valley\, will be presenting their forth annual Día de Los Muertos celebration. This is the third year of partnership between Calvary Cemetery and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Catholic Cemeteries hopes that the Día de Los Muertos celebration at Calvary Catholic Cemetery will grow to be San Jose’s premier event for Day of the Dead celebrations annually. Other sponsors include El Observador\, Univision\, Pacific Printing\, Willow Glen Funeral Home\, Pathways Hospice & Hospice of the Valley\, and Sonia Orban-Price.\nThis celebration will include performances by local entertainers\, Manuel Romero\, Aztec Dance Group Capulli Tonalehqueh\, in addition to Folklorico dance groups Folklorico Nacional Mexicano and Lincoln High School’s Xoctil Cultura; altar displays and artwork created by local Jr. high and high school students from St. John Vianney and Notre Dame High School\, organizations\, businesses\, and individual artists; face painting\, skull decorating\, papeles picados\, and much more.\nThe children’s choir from Our Lady of Guadalupe Church will also be processing from Our Lady of Guadalupe to Calvary Cemetery\, in honor of the ancient tradition in Mexico. The choir will also be performing.\nThis year Calvary Cemetery will also be hosting food trucks. Trucks include Takoz Mod Mex\, Gold Rush Eatery\, Chutney Marys\, MoGo BBQ and Madd Mex Cantina.\nFor more information about the event\, please contact the cemetery at cemeteryinfo@dsj.org or 408-258-2940.\nEvent Details:\nSaturday\, October 26\, 2013\, 11am-3pm\nCalvary Cemetery\n2650 Madden Avenue\nSan Jose\, CA 95116\n4028-258-2940
