SUMMARY:Spiritual Exercises in Daily Life / The 19th Annotation retreat
DESCRIPTION:The 19th Annotation retreat:\n* The 19th Annotation is also known as\, “the Spiritual Exercises in daily life”.\n* It is a “home retreat” for busy people who\, otherwise could not find the time to do a classic retreat at a retreat house. It provides an opportunity to deepen one’s relationship with God in daily life.\n* The 19th Annotation is a spiritual program that lasts eight to nine months and is based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. The accompanying text is from the book\, Choosing Christ in the World\, by Fr. Joseph Tetlow\, SJ.\n* Prayer\, meditation contemplation and the reading of Holy Scripture is an essential for the retreat.\n* This daily life retreat begins in September and continues until May. Each retreatant meets weekly (one-on-one) with a director (either priest or Margarita Hua) for 45 minutes at “Ignatius House”. Once a month\, Fr. Andrew Garcia\, SJ\, elaborates on specific points of each week of the Spiritual Exercises. \nWhat are the commitments that retreatants must make?\nBe serious to the commitments undertaken.\nDo 10 minutes of scriptural reading and 30 minutes of meditation a day.\nMeet with a spiritual exercises director and inform her/him of absences.\nRegularly maintain a journal. \nWhat are the fundamental requirements?\nA desire for God and a wish to seek Jesus.\nHave a generous and open attitude to what God will reveal through the Exercises.\nAn openness to use your imagination in prayer with Holy Scripture.\nOne or two times a day\, an examination of conscience every day. \nHow do I know if a retreat may help me? By answering “yes” to any of the following:\nDo I desire to seek God in a deeper relationship?\nDo I desire to make good and right decisions\, i.e. to embrace God’s will for my life?\nDo I desire a greater maturity and integrity?\nDo I desire to understand what the feelings and emotions moving within me are indicating? \nThis program is free (no charge)\, but we do encourage and ask donations to keep this ministry going. Checks can be made payable to: Most Holy Trinity\, Spiritual Exercises Ministry. \nIf you feel that God is calling you to do the Spiritual Exercises in daily life (the 19th Annotation)\, please call Margarita 408- 729-0101\, or email to dailyliferetreat@gmail.com. She will assist you regarding the 19th Annotation retreat and provide counsel regarding one’s spiritual journey with Jesus. \nSpiritual Exercises Ministry\, St. Ignatius of Loyola\, Most Holy Trinity Parish\,\n2040 Nassau Dr. San Jose\, Ca 95122 \nDownload Flyer

SUMMARY:Prayer Practices -- Lectio Divina
DESCRIPTION:Prayer Practices – Lectio Divina \nOctober Prayer Practice: Lectio Divina\n“We speak to God when we pray; we listen to Him when we read the Scriptures.” – St. Ambrose\nLectio Divina (“divine reading”) is a technique to help us listen to God in scripture long associated with the Benedictine tradition. Fr. Matthew Leavy of the Benedictine Woodside Priory will take us through the history and guide us in practice of Lectio Divina. Thursday\, October 3\, 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart\, Saratoga in the Parish Center. \nWhat is the Prayer Practices series?\nAre you wanting to increase your prayer life? Are you looking for a way to pray that connects with you? Sacred Heart introduces Prayer Practices\, a monthly opportunity to explore the breadth of Catholic prayer styles. Prayer isn’t only the recitation of words\, and Prayer Practices will bring in art\, body movement\, music\, contemplation\, and other methods of helping us connect with God. Learn a bit about the history of each prayer style and then practice praying together as a group. Come for the entire series or only for a particular practice that intrigues you. One Thursday night each month\, 7:00-8:00 in the Parish Center. \nDownload Flyer

SUMMARY:2019 Saint Francis of Assisi Feast Day
DESCRIPTION:Come to the celebration of the feast day of our patron saint\, St. Francis of Assisi on Saturday\, October 5. Join us for a family event that promises fun\, live entertainment\, good food\, wine and beer\, and adventure! Bring your whole family and invite friends! The program of events begins with the blessing of animals at 9:15 am. This will be followed by a free animal show at 9:45 am. The show includes 3 monkeys\, all of them having starred in recent films. Kids can meet Sun\, a conure parrot that performs funny routines. There are also reptiles that children can hold and touch. The animals can stay for a a little while\, so anyone who wishes can have their photo taken with them. The free magic show follows after at 11:00 am. Nothing is more memorable than experiencing magic right before your eyes! At 12:00 noon Star Wars Storm Troopers will invade the parish grounds. Let your kids\, or yourself encounter them…but beware! Star Wars prizes will be given away. Storm Troopers will stay for anyone who wishes to have their photo taken. There will also be free balloon twisting; enjoy while your kids watch the magic of a balloon\, starting as a small colorful tube and then changing into a folded and twisted work of art like dogs\, and swords\, mermaids\, ninja turtles\, a space alien riding a skateboard and more! After the treat\, kids can go and have their faces painted for free\, with animals or characters of their liking. A free concert featuring Austin Ellis begins at 2:30 p.m. Austin performed in Season 6 of the Voice. He has written and produced two studio albums. Raised on Blues\, Soul\, Gospel\, and Rock and Roll\, Austin has toured the US\, Europe\, and Australia and performs more than 150 shows per year.
