SUMMARY:16th Annual Run for Zimbabwe Orphans and Fair
DESCRIPTION:Get ready to: BE FIT! CREATE ART! HELP OTHERS! at The 16th Annual Run for Zimbabwe Orphans and Fair on Sunday March 22\, 2015 at St. Joseph School in Mountain View\, 1120 Miramonte Ave. from noon to 4 p.m. The Zim Run and Fair is for all age groups and highlights the joy of Africa. \nThere are 11 cross-country style foot races: 220 yards for preschool\, ½ mile for kindergarten and a series of mile races for grades 1-8\, high school and adults. The African Art Contest (for kids in preschool to grade 8) reveals the artistic talent of Bay Area kids. In the “helping others” department\, there are many opportunities. One may donate funds to the orphans of Makumbi Children’s Home\, volunteer\, buy a cheetah t-shirt or contribute gently used shoes to the African shoe drive. \nKeeping the spectators dancing and laughing are the traditional Zimbabwean music groups–Chinyakari Ensemble and Sadza–and ten Zimbabwean Game Booths. At one booth\, kids can even build a termite hill since termite repair at Makumbi Children’s Home in Zimbabwe is one of the goals of this year’s event. \nFor information on entering the run ($5) or art contest (free)\, volunteering or donating to this cause\, log on to: www.ZimbabweParaguay.net call meet directors\, Ellen and Bill Clark at 650.941.9206 or e-mail them at zpclarks@comcast.net The Zim Run and Fair (which raised $35\,000 for the orphanage in 2014) is a presentation of The Sustainable Living Foundation (501c3). Run and fair expenses are underwritten by a grant from The Wakerly Family Foundation. \nFinal note: We are helping poor children in Zimbabwe. Therefore\, we’ve made every effort to make this event welcoming to low-income people here in the Bay Area. \nThe entry fee for the run is $5. The African art contest and the fair are free. People may bring their rubber soled shoes for the African shoe drive. \nClick here to download a poster.

SUMMARY:"Fixing Our Eyes on Jesus" Parish Mission Led By Katrina Zeno
DESCRIPTION:Monday\, March 2: The Goodness of GodIs God good all the time? Katrina will present various real life stories of faith to rekindle our trust in this truth that God is good…all the time. \nTuesday\, March 3: The Joy of the Cross Is God working all the time? On the cross\, it appears as if Jesus has been abandoned by the Father. Using more real life stories along with “script changes” in the Bible\, Katrina will look at how God is working…all the time\, even when it isn’t apparent. \nWednesday\, March 4: The Gift of the Eucharist Is God with us all the time? Drawing from Fr. Henri Nouwen’s book\, Life of the Beloved\, Katrina will look at how each of our lives are called to be completely Eucharistic and how the Eucharist is seen as a testimony that God is with us…all the time. We will wrap up the Parish Mission by ending with Eucharistic Adoration. \nAll talks start at 7 pm in the Church and will last until approximate 8:30 pm. All ages (14+) and states in life are encouraged and welcome to attend. Katrina’s dynamic and approachable style will make sure there is something for everyone to be inspired by. \nClick here to download a flyer.
