Youth Leadership Institute (YLI)

Developing the leadership skills of young people will help them and other youth in your ministry develop vibrant faith. This weekend long training is meant to give the high school leaders (grades 9-12) in your ministry program the basics of leadership, including sessions on: Community Building, Christian Leadership, Planning Skills, Group Dynamics, and more!

2013YLILogoThe Diocese of Sacramento, Diocese of Stockton and Diocese of San Jose are sponsoring a week-long leadership institute for high school teenagers desiring to be youth leaders in their communities.

The youth leader must:

  1. Be a leader in their parish or school ministry program
  2. Be going into the 9th through 12th grade for the 2013-2014 academic year
  3. Have the recommendation of their youth ministry coordinator or campus minister

This is not a typical retreat. It is a week of training where participants will learn leadership skills that are practical to all ministry programs, including:

  1. Building Community
  2. Leadership Styles
  3. Communication Skills
  4. Planning Skills
  5. Group Dynamics
  6. Spirituality of a Leader
  7. And more!

The goal of this institute is to teach the skills of leadership and then have them use those skills immediately so that they “stick” in the minds of the youth leaders.

Application Requirements:

  1. Candidate Application and Info Sheet
  2. YLI Adult Recommendation/Discernment Sheet
