On Friday, February 5, 2010, the Vocations Office sponsored the 4th Annual REVS vs SEMS Basketball Challenge at the Leavey Center on the campus of Santa Clara University. The REVS Priests Team earned their third straight victory with a score of 53-40 after four quarters. At the urging of their loyal fans, the REVS and the SEMS played a bonus quarter, resulting in a "final" score of REVS 59 SEMS 49. Read more...

This Saturday, November 14, the seminarians of the Diocese of San Jose will be attending the 5:00 PM Mass together at Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in San Jose. The seminarians have gathered monthly to attend Mass at local parishes in recent years. Sister Louise Poncini Enters Corpus Christi Dominican Monastery
On August 8, the Solemnity of Saint Dominic, Sister Louise Poncini entered the Corpus Christi Monastery of the Contemplative Dominican Nuns in Menlo Park. Sister Louise is the youngest sibling of Father John Poncini, the Vocation Director of the Diocese of San Jose.
Please pray for Sister Louise as she begins her postulancy with the Dominican Nuns. And please pray for vocations to the priesthood and to consecrated life!

Serra Club Celebrates 225th Anniversary of Blessed Junipero Serra's Death
The Serra Clubs of District 31 (encompassing the clubs of Palo Alto-Menlo Park, San Jose, Santa Clara, Mountain View and South Santa Clara County) recognized the 225th anniversary of the death of Blessed Junipero Serra by going on pilgrimage to the San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo Mission (Carmel Mission Basilica ) in Carmel, California on August 21, 2009. The Carmel Mission Basilica is the National Shrine of Blessed Junipero Serra; he is laid to rest inside the Basilica. Read more...

Knights of Columbus Present Donation for Vocations
On August 17, the San Jose Chapter of the Knights of Columbus presented a check for the amount of $1068.59 to the Diocese of San Jose from the Christopher Fund.
The Christopher Fund is a Knights of Columbus partnership between the Supreme Council and the various state councils. It was established in 1992, and by 2008 the size of the Christopher Fund had grown to a total of $17.4 million. Since its establishment, it has produced nearly $10 million in charitable donations.
