The mission of the Catholic Church is to unite all things in Christ. We do this by proclaiming Christ to the world through our words and our actions. We proclaim Christ not merely by speaking the Gospel or telling someone about Jesus. Proclaiming Christ means communicating the Good News in such a way that it sounds like good news for those who are most in need. Jesus evangelized not simply by telling people about his Father or what heaven was like or naming the greatest commandment. He communicated the Good News of the kingdom by making the kingdom a reality wherever he went—by healing the sick, feeding the hungry, comforting the lonely, forgiving the sinner, standing up for the outcast. All our efforts as a diocese strive to make life more like the kingdom of God here in San Jose.
