Be Your Own Advocate

•     In the Hospital
•     At the Doctor’s Office
•     When at Home

Our parish Health Ministry Team (HMT) is hosting a practical seminar this month, Be Your Own Advocate. The focus will be on how to advocate for yourself, or someone you love, in three common locations – the hospital, a doctor’s office, or at home. Community professionals will address:

• Patient Support/Palliative Care in a hospital setting (an RN from Kaiser)
• Maintaining key medical records (an MD who advocates this for her patients)
• Importance of taking meds correctly (an RN and Pharmacist).

In addition, the HMT has identified a few, select, print resources, which will be available courtesy of The Council on Aging. All are welcome to this free health care seminar. Please note, this event will be held twice, but the content will be identical. The intent is to provide both an afternoon and evening time option.  Contact Carol Thornton to RSVP.
