CNN.com recently ran an article that overviewed some recent research that shows some young adults in college are choosing to step away from hooking up with other young adults, which is often alcohol induced. The article does state that the term "hooking up" is vague, on the spectrum from kissing with a stragner or friend to sexual intercourse.

The research shows that there are trends that some college age students are fighting a counter cultural battle against our over-sexualized young adult world. The testimonies in this article do not point to religion that was the determining factor in a young adult making this decision. In fact, some young adults are exiting the hooking up scene after having been in it, sharing that the emotional baggage that is left after hooking up is not worth it.

The article is worth a read and may be insightful as to how we, as Church, work with our young adults that are in the midst of these kinds of activities and environment.
