Conscience Rights in Jeopardy

The Bush administration in December 2008 officially adopted regulations to protect medical and healthcare personnel from having to perform objectional procedures. President Barack Obama, since having taken office, is seeking to remove these regulations.

The March 6, 2009 publication of the proposal to rescind the Provider Conscience Clause opened up a 30-day public comment period. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops is asking Catholics to participate in the dialogue to preserve and protect the conscience rights of health care providers.
