A Journey from Charity to Justice and Peace: Solidarity Immersion in India

January 11-21, 2011

This pilgrimage, sponsored by Catholic Relief Services, will start in Calcutta with a visit to the mother house of the Missionaries of Charity and the tomb of Mother Teresa and end in Delhi at Raj Ghat where Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated and cremated.  The incredible witness of love in the work of charity by Blessed Teresa of Calcutta and the struggle for justice through peaceful means by Gandhi will be the bookends of the journey.  In between we will meet the living saints who continue to write the story of courage, faith and commitment to God and their brothers and sisters.  (Jim DeHarpporte, CRS West)

*Note: Included on this trip will be representatives from five dioceses in the West and Bishop Sylvester Ryan, retired from the Diocese of Monterey; all of whom are covering their own expenses.
