Human Trafficking
Human Trafficking Awareness Group of the Global Solidarity Team
Human Trafficking is a global concern which summons the human conscience to immediate intervention and long-term solutions. As part of Catholic Relief Services' Global Solidarity Team within the Diocese of San Jose, the Human Trafficking Awareness Group (HTAG) can provide information to various individuals and parishes within the diocese to help inform, motivate, and involve the Catholic faithful of Santa Clara Valley in the fight against this horror hidden within our neighborhoods. In partnership with the San Jose Police Department Human Trafficking Task Force, HTAG will be offering informational resources and lists of lecturers, provide staff and parishioner training to help identify potential victims, and offer ideas for developing youth-group awareness.
One of the primary concerns of Jesus is to free slaves. As such, our baptismal call to be Disciples of Christ means we can't let this issue be seen as someone else's problem. As Christians, it is our responsibility to respond to the silent cries for help. As engaged Catholics working together to advocate for the voiceless and invisible, we can make change happen.
Please call or email and we will be happy to work with you.
