2012 DSJ Pilgrimage to Jamaica
Deacon Steve Herrera brought seven people from the Diocese of San Jose to have a heart-felt look at the Catholic Church in Montego Bay, Jamaica April 9-15. Represented were the faith communities of Sacred Heart San Jose, St Catherine, St Cyprian, St Lucy, Transfiguration and Queen of Apostles. Among the memorable visits were the orphanages of Blessed Assurance and Jacob's Ladder, as well as the Diocesan Clinic and Hope Hospice. Coinciding with their visit was the 7th weekend of the Institute for Servant Ministry (modeled on DSJ's ILM), for which Anne Grycz (founder of the ISM!) and Dr. Kevin Grimes (graduate of the ISM!) came to teach "The Gifts of the Holy Spirit." Having the two groups together for a couple hours in Alva, St Ann, was a joyous celebration of global solidarity in Christ. Something only the Holy Spirit could arrange!
