Priesthood Ordination, Vocations
Bishop McGrath will ordain Deacon Tinh Dang to the Priesthood on Saturday, May 24 at 9:30 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Joseph. Special Collection Dates for 2009, Finance
In order to assist all parishes and missions within the Diocese of San Jose with their pastoral planning as well as to facilitate cooperation with envelope providers, the following schedule of dates for diocesan directed collections in the calendar year 2009 is announced. CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES: Update on Cyclone in Myanmar, Linda Batton
Cyclone Nargis struck Myanmar (Burma) on Saturday, May 3 causing great devastation and loss of life. Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is supporting the relief efforts of Caritas Internationalis in Myanmar in response to the devastation. CRS is the official humanitarian agency of the U.S. Catholic Church. Attached is the latest information concerning Catholic Relief Services' response to the emergency situation in Myanmar. A Day of Prayer and Renewal for Catechetical, Justice, Liturgical, Youth and Young Adult Ministry Leaders and Pastoral Associates of the Diocese of San Jose, Wendy Scherbart
The Office of Pastoral Ministry invites you to spend a day away enjoying the beauty of Presentation Center. “If Mary has chosen the better part, why am I such a Martha?” A reflection on the Gospel of Luke 10: 38-41 facilitated by Rosemarie Peoples. Thursday June 5th, 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., at Presentation Center, 19480 Bear Creek Road, Los Gatos. The cost for the Day of Prayer is $35.00 and includes lunch and morning hospitality. FAITH beyond 2000, part 2, a twelve-session catechist formation series, is being offered again this year. Sessions in English will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:45 – 9:00 p.m. at Most Holy Trinity beginning Tuesday, June 17- July 24. Topics include Liturgy, Sacraments, Morality, Social Justice, The Learner and Family, Culture and Church. Catechists, youth ministers, people who may be thinking about becoming catechists or and adults interested in a basic understanding of their faith are encouraged to register by calling (408) 983-0127 or by visiting the Diocese of San Jose website at www.dsj.org. Las sesiones en español se ofrecerán los martes y los jueves en la Parroquia de Santa Maria en Gilroy de 6:45 - 9:00 p.m. Comenzando el 17 de Junio. Las sesiones en inglés se ofrecerán los martes y los jueves en la Parroquia de Santísima Trinidad de 6:45 - 9:00 p.m. Comenzando el 17 de Junio hasta el 24 de Julio. Los temas que se impartirán son los siguientes: Liturgia, Sacramentos, Moralidad, Justicia Social y Familia, Cultura y la Iglesia. Catequistas, ministros de jóvenes, y personas que estén respondiendo al llamado de ser catequistas y adultos que estén interesados en entender más su fe, comuníquese con el Director(a)/Coordinador(a) de catequesis en su parroquia.
